Present: Neil, Pam, Kobi, Yoni, Penina, Tzvi, Warren, Dov, and Arnie
Dov presented the current status of the kehilla’s bank accounts as well as a cash flow projection until the end of June (when income via the receipt of membership dues will be received). The costs of moving in as well as other expenditures show the kehilla in a tight financial situation.
Tzvi reported that the Tofes 4 (Building Occupancy Permit) is being delayed due to technical difficulties (sewage system issues) making the exact date of entry unknown. The Dedication Ceremony is being planned for Erev Shavuot (Thursday 5 June).
A joint Vaad/Capital Campaign/Financial Planning Committee is being arranged to review various financial and other issues.
The Committee is now focusing on creating Seder match-ups (hosts and guests)
Warren will request Pini to prepare some explanatory material about the issues addressed by the halacha/minhag committee and their recommendations.
It was recommended that the Shabbat be brought in early (should clocks be changing that week), which will be easier for families with small children.
It was further recommended that next year’s Shabbaton be scheduled at Ein Gedi for the weekend of January 31, 2004. During the summer, a member of the Vaad will contact the SPN (Rivka Segel).
The Mishloach Manot fund raising program is proceeding well.
Kriyot Megilla: Readers have been secured for all four readings (2 in the evening and the two in the morning). The Purim flyer of events is being prepared for distribution.
Microphone: The Halacha/Minhag Committee has addressed the issue and will present their recommendations at a Shabbat Iyyun on Shabbat Zachor.
Seuda: Randi Garber is organizing the event. The Vaad approved an allocation of up to 1,200 NIS to be used to help defray expenses and recommended that the seuda planning committee consider increasing the “participation fee” to reduce the kehilla’s expenses.
Machazit Hashekel: All donated funds to be used for kehilla operating budget.
Uriel Simon is being invited to speak.
A Potluck lunch will be scheduled. A volunteer to organize the lunch needs to found.
Pini Leizer has agreed to organize appropriate limud for “praida”
Penina will research the options for holding a women’s kriya on the 7th day.
David Silberklang is organizing a program. Professor Bachrach will present “Last Letters from Holocaust Victims.” The Vaad approved 400 NIS for out of town transportation costs (if necessary).
Rav Melchior has been invited to speak. Beit Boyer has also been invited to join us this year.
In light of sparse attendance at the Tikkun in recent years, there was a discussion whether one shiur, at about 11:00pm, be offered or, if the excitement of moving into the new building can generate sufficient interest in arranging additional shiurim through the evening.
A coordinator needs to be found.
It was recommended that a printed pamphlet (Hebrew/English, one page, folded in thirds) be designed and printed for distributing to newcomers and guests. Brian Blum has agreed to edit the English version.
Tzvi agreed to speak with Ellie Render and Ronnie Ban to arrange for the kuppah to officially associate itself with the Kehilla and enjoy tax exempt status.
Its next issue is being prepared for distribution prior to Pesach.
Noomi Stahl has assumed its editorship.
It was decided that the education portfolio be revived. A list of candidates was drawn up.
In an effort to make it more appealing it was decided that during the general announcement regarding meals on Shabbat names of host families will be provided.
The next meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, 23 March 2003, 19:30pm at Dov Cooper’s
